Don’t Just Vote, Question: Ensuring Good Governance

Tomorrow’s results will be out, and regardless of who wins, we must remember to question the elected government.

Today, we often choose sides and neglect to hold elected officials accountable. Ideally, we should vote for our preferred candidates, but it is our duty to point out government failures or wrongdoings.

In this social media era, we tend to stick to our own side and fear getting laughed at if we question those we supported. Social media makes it difficult to criticize our choices because we worry about backlash or our friends thinking we’re not loyal. But it’s super important to always hold those in power accountable, no matter who they are.

Constructive criticism and asking tough questions keep things transparent and our democracy strong.
